Due to the amendment of § 42 Arbeitnehmererfindergesetz from February 2002 all employees of universities are bound to announce their inventions to their employers. For this purpose the technology transfer office provides information. It also cooperates with the InnoWi GmbH in Bremen, an agency which deals with patent-exploitation.

Employees of the universities are called upon to signal any kind of invention to the executive management committee/ head office of their university.
